Whitiwhiti Korero
A project with the task to explore stories of the land in the site of the Waipapa Stream and Akautangi. The experience reflects the co-existing and knotted layers of past, present and future. While being immersed in the wai(water) of the experience, users feel the tension and mourn the free flowing Waipapa current and Te Awa-a-Taia which used to be the body of water where the suburbs of Lyall Bay and Kilbirnie now lie. The linear layout of varying fabric transparencies, reflect the whakapapa and there will be moments where the user is guided to open areas, acting as a release in tension and beacon of hope for the energy of the Waipapa to be free once again.
