Legacy of Layers

The spatial event embarks on a journey of reflection, and growth by marking layers of paint on the walls of the whare, as they see fit. Layers of paint are applied to chosen wall sections reflecting chapters of their life and marks of the past. Waiata can be exchanged through the painting process alongside the beat of the wind, producing a unique tatau painting. To conclude, the whare is carefully stripped of it's skin and hung in the centre as a pou, held up by the whakapapa and legacies of the people.
